My Atelier
Rikje van Duin is born in 1966 in the Noorderstraat in Hoorn, the pintoresk harbortown, situated at the IJsselmeer in The Northwest part of Holland.
Rikje makes inspirefull painting work, which one wants to see closer.
Her experience as a plastic artist started in the early years of her life. Rikje is an autodidact when it comes to painting.
As the eldest of five, she used to design illustrated exercise books for her 3 sisters and brother during her childhood at primary school.
My Passion
At the high school in Holland and during one year in the United States she improved her drawing skills through different Art courses. In her twenties and thirties she worked in different jobs in Tourism and she never went somewhere without her pencils and sketchbook in order to draw the beautiful places she travelled to. Later in 2012, inspired during her various travels along the whole coast of Brazil , she developed her own 'naive' style.
Nowadays Rikje is a natural expressionist ruled by the heart recording the vibes and emotions of humans from different cultures and transforming them into paintings.
The materials she uses are Acrylic and Oil paint, as well as watercolours, and mixed media as charcoal and pastel.
